Very important things you've pointed out here. Like all things, the devil is in the details - we really need to drop our penchant for platitudes and speaking on things that we don't have specifics on. I've been focusing on this... we humans, myself included, have a really hard time on not 'expanding outward from personal experience' - we hear something intersectional with even a single thought we've had - and feel like we can weigh in. We can... if and only if... we can center it in self. Our own lived experience. Otherwise, we should drop platitudes and adopt gentle questioning. "Do you have any experience with adoption? What was your personal experience?"

Thank you for writing this important piece, discussing a phenomenon that most women who are childless have experienced! 🙏🏽 And of course this very problematic question is directed at all childless women, whether this is due to infertility or circumstance, whether they are single or partnered. And as a single woman considering the possibility of adoption, this brings up additional complexities and possible problems...

Thank you! 🦋
